CONFERENCE OF LATIN AMERICA AND SPAIN (CALE) – 2026
Posted on by fsceditor

From May 17 to 24, 2026, we, the Provincials and Delegate Superiors of the Conference of Latin America and Spain (CALE), along with Brother Carlos Almaraz, General Councilor, held our annual meeting. This year it took place at the Antonio Nariño School community in Bogotá, Colombia.
Each meeting provides us with the opportunity to collaborate with one another in various aspects. We place great priority on the formation of brothers and lay people. And we dedicate ample time to listening to each other and feeling supported in our mission.
The Conference devoted a long time to the evaluation and projection of our commissions: the Charism commission and its formation session offered annually to the laity and brothers; the Youth and Pastoral Vocational commission (its periodic bulletin, publication of a vocational prayer, virtual meetings with aspirants and its vocational booklet); the conference's team of formators that we created to prepare new formators.
In addition to the commissions, the RED CALE allows for the union and renewal of our consecrated life: we are evaluating the training meeting organized in 2025 in Spain for older brothers (65 years and over); we are preparing the training meeting for brothers aged 40 to 65 that will be held in 2026 in Brazil; and we are preparing the missionary experience in Peru that will be carried out by the brothers who will make their perpetual profession, after the SIR PPP session experienced in Rome.
Although we have no novices this year, we remain hopeful that the common Novitiate house in Lima will soon welcome new candidates.
Other topics addressed the preparations and celebration of the Bicentenary of the death of Father Andrés Coindre in each entity; and the evolution of the CorJesu website, which aims to be the website of the charism of the Institute.
We concluded the meeting with a visit to the local communities of Barranquilla and a friendly tourist outing in Cartagena, hosted by the Province of Colombia. Brother Herbert Mangove, General Councilor, accompanied us; he had just completed his canonical visit to the Province of Colombia with Brother Carlos Almaraz. Thanks to our brothers and communities in Colombia, we experienced a few days of true fraternity and mutual understanding, which enriches the life of our entities.
