Partners in Mission,

Father Coindre wrote, in one of his sermons, that “the cross will teach us”.  Jesus, in the events of this Holy Week, transforms everything from darkness to light, from defeat to hope, from suffering to joy.  As we accompany him on this journey this week and into the weeks after Easter, we know he himself accompanies us on our personal and communal journey.

Just as Mary Magdalen would find him, mistaking him for the gardener, may we too find him, unexpectedly in the days ahead – in the scriptures, in our brothers and sisters, in our communities, in our mission, and in all those we encounter.

And through those encounters, with the Resurrected Jesus and with others, may we each become more like the gardener we seek to emulate, and become sowers of hope, of love and of compassion.
